Intellectual Property Rights in the Global Economy

Intellectual Property Rights in the Global Economy Customer Review: General review about the same
The book is execellently drafted, edited. the intellectual property is an indespensable asset for any firm and the said assets needs protection from infringement and recognition not only in the domestic market but also in the international market. The trade mark, copyright and patent is the most worthiest intellectual property and runs the show of the company in this competitive market. Patent is granted to the product aswell as the process/method of product. the value of medicine are going to shoot up if the product is patentable. If the product of the foreign goods are patented than monopoly is created and in our country (India) where only the process is patentable and product is never patentable, if the foreign goods which are patentable comes in our economy than such goods will be expensive as no other similiar/identical goods of our country can sell such goods. It may create unneccessary concentration of economic power. Trade mark is granted to the mark, logo, symbol while copyright is granted to the exclusive work and patent to the invention. Said law of all the country should be in one line then and then intellectual property can be protected in one another country. I have not purchased the said book but i have gone through the same i feel very interesting and its very pragmatic and visionary for the coming days. The same was not available in our city (Ahmedabad) in the state of Gujarat INDIA.

Family Property Law (University Casebook) (University Casebook Series)

Family Property Law (University Casebook) (University Casebook Series) This is a casebook that covers all the major aspects of family property law.
Customer Review: Imaginitive
The Restatement 3rd of Property is the law almost nowhere. But this text treats it with almost as much respect as it does the Uniform Probate Code.

The reason? The authors have written a textbook devoted in substantial part to what the law should be. According to them.

In my T&E class, the result was that I had to learn the law of the UPC, the revised UPC, my jurisdiction (Georgia) and the imaginative if inaccurately named Restatement 3d of Property (innacurate in that, in many places, it “restates” the law only as it exists in its authors’ minds.)

Add to this the fact that this book is heavy on cases that do not present the majority rule on an issue but serve only to illustrate a rule the authors prefer. And then the long note sections that, instead of telling me some useful law, begin with questions such as “Query whether Judge Smith was correct in finding that . . .”

Ugh. If you intend to design your T&E course to teach the law, I humbly recommend another text. If you prefer lecturing students on what the law should be (and you happen to prefer a court-tailored outcome to the one dictated by a document’s plain meaning at almost every turn), then by all means, choose this text.

Early-Stage Technologies: Valuation and Pricing (Intellectual Property-General, Law, Accounting & Finance, Management, Licensing, Special Topics)

Early-Stage Technologies: Valuation and Pricing (Intellectual Property-General, Law, Accounting & Finance, Management, Licensing, Special Topics) Comprehensive coverage of the issues, methods, and art of valuing and pricing early-stage technologies To develop or not to develop; to license or not to license; what price will be a true reflection of the product’s value from both the buyer’s and seller’s point of view? These questions are crucial to companies dependent on intellectual property—particularly technology companies, universities, and biotech companies. The risks associated with early-stage technology are high, and decisions must often be made years before any potential product will reach the market. In Early-Stage Technologies: Valuation and Pricing, Richard Razgaitis presents TR-R-A-DE™, a comprehensive approach to determining the future of new technologies based on technology rights, risk assignment, the art of deal-making, and deal economics. He considers the key components involved in a licensing transaction, offers a detailed presentation of six valuation methods for intellectual property, examines risk in both quantitative and qualitative terms, and explores the negotiation strategy and structuring of agreements that are the keys to the art of technology rights deal-making. Early-Stage Technologies is an indispensable tool for anyone involved in the development, valuation, and licensing of intellectual property, the most valuable resource and driving force of the information age.
Customer Review: Jewel in the Crown of Technology Valuation Reference Books
Of all the technology valuation reference books I have read, this one is by far the best. Richard has compiled and condensed the most useful valuation techniques/methods into his book, and it’s easy reading. However, if you’re just looking for one tried and true, quick and dirty recipe to value all technologies in all markets and in all business conditions you’ll be disappointed. Richard has provided an excellent collection of methods, however unlike many authors, he writes for the business professional and thus he requires the reader to use professional judgment, coupled with good business intelligence (information) to select and then apply the methodologies. Basically, there are rarely easy and simple answers when valuating technologies, however Richard’s book makes it a heck of a lot easier and the results provide a more credible foundation for commencing valuation negotiations.
Customer Review: Engaging Book for a Technical Subject
I enjoyed reading Dr. Razgaitis book on the Early -Stage Technologies. It covered the different basic approaches to valuation. I specifically liked his analysis of the 25% rule and the Monte Carlo method for valuations. These two methods are on opposite ends of the difficulty spectrum of valuations. The details mentioned in those two methods has allowed me to strengthen the valuation reports that we do at Inavisis, Inc.

I also liked Chapter five which covers the Rating/ranking method to determine valuation. Although the chapter was general in nature, it outlined the basic principles that appraisal professional use in their valuation report and in litigation environment to support their analysis.

I use the stories outlined in the book in many of my valuation training courses. Dr. Razgaitis book is a must for the libraries of appraisal professional.

Who Owns the Past?: Cultural Policy, Cultural Property, And the Law

Who Owns the Past?: Cultural Policy, Cultural Property, And the Law Public and private institutions in the United States have long been home to a variety of art works, antiquities, and ethnological materials. For years, these collections have been seen as important archives that allow present and future generations to enjoy, appreciate, and value the art of all cultures. The past decade, however, has seen major changes in law and public policy and an active, ongoing debate over legal and ethical issues affecting the ownership of art and other cultural property.

Contributors to Who Owns the Past? include legal scholars, museum professionals, anthropologists, archaeologists, and collectors. In clear, nontechnical language, they provide a comprehensive overview of the development of cultural property law and practices, as well as recent case law affecting the ability of museums and private collectors to own art from other countries. Topics covered include rights to property, ethical ownership, the public responsibilities of museums, threats to art from war, pillage, and development, and international cooperation to preserve collections in the developing world.

Engaging all perspectives on this debate, Who Owns the Past? challenges all who care about the arts to work together toward policies that consider traditional American interests in securing cultural resources and respect international concerns over loss of heritage.
Customer Review: The below review is extremely unfair
This book is not a multi-page lamentation on how various people are “oppressed” by the evil rich collectors who steal their culture for the sake of owning curios. This book is written from a very balanced perspective that takes into consideration the textural aspects of this issue, from both a cultural patrimony standpoint and one of the antiques trade.

If you are looking for a book that will reaffirm your belief that the “evil rich collectors” are oppressing the poor ethnic peoples, this isn’t it. If you are looking for a book that is blame-centric and seeks to demonize people who can afford to buy antiquities, this isn’t it either.

If you are looking for a cool-headed, honest assesment of the issue that takes into account all parties involved, you will be well served with this book.
Customer Review: a masquerade of accountability
This book is sponsored by the American Council for Cultural Policy and is an excellent illustration that this organization is completely devoid of ethics. The various articles in the volume detail how the ‘innocent’ art and antiquities dealer and collector could and should be protected by U.S. law, all the while defaming the rights and plight of Native Americans, victims of Nazi appropriations, and countries suffering from massive art market-driven looting, to name only a few. Property laws figure heavily in these debates, but naturally the question of how stolen or looted art and antiquities become the ‘property’ of collectors and dealers is answered in such ways as to show the dealers and collectors as the true victims of both the thefts and the judicial systems. Although the book is claimed as a balanced discussion of the many complex issues surrounding the ownership of cultural property, it is clearly in the corner of the wealthy dealers and collectors (and their lawyers).

Customer Review: Not really an outline for the novice
Note: the 18th ed. of this outline was just published in 2003 with some case update. Call the Amazon rep. and ask for the new edition.
I was handling a case involving some community property issues and I thought I would brush up on the subject using this outline, since I have no time reading voluminous treatises and the West’s Nutshell hasn’t come up with a new update since the late 80s.
This outline does a very good job in outlining California community property regime and in the province of statutory interpretation. Kudos to Prof. W. Reppy and/or the “ghostwriters.” However, the treatment of the subject, I am afraid, may leave some law students bewildered. The author(s) explain(s) the topics with the assumption that the reader has some knowledge in the laws of insurance, pension, wills and trusts, family, etc., so that if you don’t know the basics in these subjects you may actually miss what the author(s) are saying. I know my eyes went @@ when I was reading the section on ERISA.
Also, some of you who will be tested on the non-cali CP regime need to know that this outline is heavily california-oriented and does not contain too much information on the non-cali CP regimes. The outline only mentioned in passing several statutes and polcies in Louisiana and Arizona.
A good outline, no less!

This is ‘the’ data compilation of physical properties of polymers. This is the only book that contained the parameters that I was looking for.
